Ever since 1864, when firefighter Conrad Dietrich Magirus designed a turntable ladder to improve safety for himself and his colleagues in Ulm, Germany, the company that still bears his name strives to make the best equipment to tackle the biggest emergencies to the highest safety standards.
Today those vehicles include the turntable ladders that made the Magirus name famous as well as fire engines, rescue vehicles and airport fire engines, as well as components and special vehicles.

It was renamed from Iveco Magirus Brandschutztechnik GmbH to Magirus GmbH in December 2013.
