Engineering Note
The Planetary Gear in the Versatile 300 is a high-speed balanced unit. Never interchange planet gears or pins from different weight groups—always check the stamped letters (A or B) to maintain a balance within 0.25 oz.in. When assembling the gearbox, the Pump Drive Unit shimming is critical to the internal clearance of the planetary shaft; follow the "Gap A" calculation precisely. Use only Dexron Transmission Fluid (approximately 19 U.S. Qts) once the unit is fully installed in the tractor. Cleanliness of the hydrostatic motor and pump interfaces is paramount to prevent debris from entering the high-pressure closed-loop system.
